Chemical pump pump body of the core application areas and scene analysis
1. Petrochemical and refining industry
Core requirements: conveying high temperature, high pressure, flammable and explosive or corrosive media (such as crude oil, gasoline, sulfuric acid, benzene, etc.).
Typical scene:
The atmospheric decompression distillation unit conveying crude oil (temperature 300-400 ℃, pressure 1-3MPa), the pump body needs to use high temperature Cr-Mo alloy (such as 15CrMo) or stainless steel (316L).
Ethylene cracking device to transport ethylene tar (high sulfur content), need to resist sulfur corrosion of duplex stainless steel (2205) pump body.
Key requirements: the pump body needs to be certified by API 610 standard, with fireproof design (such as API 682 mechanical seal), to prevent media leakage caused by safety accidents.
2. Chemical Pharmaceuticals and Fine Chemicals
Core requirements: transport high-purity, low-pollution or highly corrosive chemicals (such as acid and alkali solutions, organic solvents, drug intermediates).
Typical scenarios:
Lithium battery electrolyte (carbonate organic solvents) delivery, the pump body using PTFE or PVDF lining, to avoid metal ion pollution.
Pharmaceutical workshop conveying penicillin solution (pH sensitive), need sanitary stainless steel (316L, surface roughness Ra<0.8μm) pump body, in line with FDA/GMP standards.
Special design: the pump body adopts no dead angle design (such as diaphragm pump structure), which is convenient for CIP (in-line cleaning) and SIP (steam sterilisation).
3. Coal Chemical and Coal-to-Hydrogen
Core requirements: conveying high viscosity, solid particle-containing media (e.g. coal water slurry, coal tar, syngas scrubbing liquid).
Typical scenario:
Conveying coal water slurry (solid content 40-60%, particle size < 0.1mm) in coal gasification plant, the pump body needs to use wear-resistant cast iron (e.g. Ni-Hard) or ceramic coating (Al₂O₃) to prevent scouring wear.
In coal-to-hydrogen projects to transport high-temperature hydrogen (400°C, pressure 10-30 MPa), the pump body is made of hydrogen embrittlement-resistant 2.25Cr-1Mo alloy to avoid hydrogen-induced cracking (HIC).
Performance challenges: the pump body needs to withstand high differential pressure (ΔP>5MPa), often using a multi-stage segmented structure (such as the cylinder bag pump), to improve the reliability of the seal.
4. Fertiliser and pesticide production
Core requirements: conveying media containing ammonia, urea, phosphates, etc. Some scenarios need to be resistant to high pressure and crystallisation.
Typical scenarios:
Urea synthesis tower circulating pump (conveying NH₃/CO₂ mixture, pressure 15-25MPa), the pump body using ammonium carbamate corrosion-resistant 316L + Surfacing Stellite alloy, to prevent intergranular corrosion.
Pesticide emulsion production conveying chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents (e.g. chlorobenzene), the pump body is made of Viton lined cast iron to resist dissolution corrosion.
Energy-saving design: part of the scenario adopts magnetic pump (pump body without shaft seal) to avoid ammonia leakage, and the efficiency is 5-8% higher than that of traditional centrifugal pumps.
5. Environmental protection and wastewater treatment
Core requirements: conveying high concentration sewage, sludge, acid and alkali waste liquid (e.g. electroplating waste water, chemical park waste water).
Typical scenario:
Electroplating workshop conveying cyanide-containing wastewater (pH 1-14, containing CN- ions), the pump body is lined with rubber (Buna-N) or glass reinforced plastic (FRP) to resist galvanic corrosion.
Wastewater treatment plant conveying activated sludge (solids content 5-10%), the choice of single screw pump body (cast iron + wear-resistant stator), to adapt to the characteristics of high-viscosity, non-Newtonian fluid.
Anti-clogging design: the pump body flow channel adopts large diameter, non-clogging design (such as double flow impeller), through the solid particles of up to 10-20mm particle size.
6 Desalination and marine chemical industry
Core requirements: conveying high salinity seawater, concentrated salt water or corrosive media in marine oil and gas development.
Typical scenario:
High-pressure pumps for reverse osmosis seawater desalination plants (pressure 6-8MPa, containing Cl- 20,000ppm), with pump bodies made of super austenitic stainless steel (904L) or titanium alloy (TA2), to protect against chlorine ion stress corrosion (SCC).
Offshore oil fields to transport oil recovery wastewater (containing H₂S, CO₂), the pump body needs to meet the NACE MR0175 standard, the use of duplex stainless steel (2507) or Inconel 625, resistance to sulfide stress corrosion (SSC).
