Measure the gap between the impeller and the mouth ring of the pump body when disassembling (standard value 0.15~0.3mm), and replace the mouth ring or surfacing cemented carbide (e.g. Staley alloy) when the wear exceeds 0.5mm.

Intensive maintenance of vulnerable parts

Pump body and impeller clearance control:

Measure the gap between the impeller and the mouth ring of the pump body when disassembling (standard value 0.15~0.3mm), and replace the mouth ring or surfacing cemented carbide (e.g. Staley alloy) when the wear exceeds 0.5mm.

Flange sealing surface maintenance:

Polishing the sealing surface with sandpaper (800 mesh) and applying anti-seize agent (e.g. molybdenum disulphide paste) every time of overhauling to avoid leakage caused by corrosion of bolts.

Corrosive media pump body protection

Corrosion inhibitor management:

Regularly test the concentration of medium corrosion inhibitor (such as potassium dichromate in nitric acid medium needs to be maintained 0.3 ~ 0.5%), insufficient to make up for the proportion, add and then test the pH value after running for 30 minutes (should be stable at 6.5 ~ 7.5).

Cathodic protection application:

For titanium alloy pump body, install zinc alloy sacrificial anode in the inlet pipe (anode quality ≥ 1/20 of the pump body weight), and measure the protection potential every half a year (should be ≤ -850mV vs Cu/CuSO₄).

Anti-wear of pump body with particulate media

Flushing system maintenance:

API Plan 31 flushing programme (flushing of the back side of the impeller with media from the outlet), filter accuracy ≤ 25μm, weekly check of the flushing flow rate (should be ≥ 5% of the rated flow rate).

Wear layer repair:

When the ceramic coating of the runner is partially detached, fill it with high temperature ceramic adhesive (e.g. alumina + silica sol), curing conditions: 120℃ heat preservation for 2 hours, and the hardness is restored to HV1200+.
